Tombstone Clash Royale Guide — Best Uses, Anti-Hog Defense & Tips 2025
Master the Tombstone in Clash Royale: anti-Hog Rider placement, continuous Skeleton spawning strategy and best synergies.
The Tombstone is a 3-elixir Rare building that spawns Skeletons every 1.5 seconds and releases a large burst of Skeletons on death. It's the best elixir-efficient counter to Hog Rider in the game and a staple defensive building in Miner Poison and PEKKA Bridge Spam.
Anti-Hog Rider Defense
Why Tombstone beats Hog Rider: Hog Rider targets buildings first. Tombstone redirects him from the tower to itself, and the continuously spawning Skeletons surround and kill him before he finishes attacking the Tombstone.
Net elixir: Tombstone (3 elixir) vs Hog Rider (4 elixir) = +1 elixir advantage with counter-push Skeletons remaining.
Placement: Drop Tombstone near the center of your side, slightly toward the side the Hog Rider is approaching. He will target the Tombstone immediately.
Spawning Skeletons: The Sustained Value
While active (before taking damage), Tombstone spawns 1 Skeleton every 1.5 seconds. A Tombstone that lasts 8 seconds spawns 5+ Skeletons for free — enough to block or distract most medium-HP troops.
Death burst: On destruction, Tombstone spawns 4–6 additional Skeletons instantly. This burst often kills whatever just destroyed the Tombstone.
Best Synergies
- PEKKA Bridge Spam: Tombstone defends against counter-pushes while PEKKA attacks.
- Miner Poison: Tombstone occupies the lane while Miner hits the tower.
- Giant Graveyard: Tombstone defends while the Giant-Graveyard push rolls on the other side.
