Master the Miner in Clash Royale: best placement, Miner Poison combos, cycle decks and how to defend against him.
The Miner is a 3-elixir Legendary troop that burrows underground and surfaces at any point the player chooses — including directly on the enemy tower. He's the quintessential chip-damage win condition: small, predictable, but relentless. The goal isn't to destroy towers with the Miner — it's to chip 200–300 damage per cycle until the tower reaches 1,000 HP, then burst it down.
The Miner's Value Proposition
- 3 elixir: Cheap enough to cycle repeatedly.
- Instant placement: No travel time — he appears instantly where you aim.
- 100% tower-reliable: Unless countered, he always attacks the tower.
- Paired with Poison: The Miner + Poison combination is the reason Miner decks win; Poison does the heavy lifting.
Miner Poison Combo
- Aim the Miner at the tower.
- Immediately layer Poison on the tower.
The Poison kills any defensive troop sent to counter the Miner while simultaneously damaging the tower. With no defenders surviving the Poison, the Miner gets 4–6 uncontested tower hits.
Best Placement Spots
Back of tower: Surface behind the Princess Tower's base. Defenders are often sent from the front and take time to turn around.
Princess Tower connection: Surface directly on the tower for instant hits before defenders reach.
King Tower activation trick: Surface at the King Tower with a push alongside — if the Princess Tower is down, Miner + Graveyard on the King Tower closes out the game.

Miner Poison (Classic): Miner, Poison, Ice Wizard, Inferno Dragon, Musketeer, The Log, Bats, Tornado.
Miner Cycle: Miner, Wall Breakers, Rocket, The Log, Skeletons, Ice Spirit, Electro Wizard, Bomb Tower.
Defending Against Miner
Use cheap, fast troops at the tower — not expensive units. Goblins, Skeletons, or Bats quickly surround the Miner and kill it before it gets more than 2–3 attacks. Avoid using Mini P.E.K.K.A (overkill, costs 4 elixir) on a 3-elixir threat.
