Edgar Brawl Stars Guide — Best Build, Leap & Punching Tips 2025
Master Edgar in Brawl Stars: best gadgets, star powers, how to use his leaping super, modes and counters.
Edgar is an Epic Assassin who is unique among assassins: he requires no elixir to charge — his Super is charged automatically over time, and his attacks self-heal him. This makes Edgar one of the highest-pressure close-range brawlers in Brawl Stars, with a constant threat of his diving super.
Edgar's Core Loop
- Edgar auto-charges his Super by simply existing — no damage required.
- He self-heals a percentage of damage dealt with each punch.
- His Super leaps a short distance and deals damage on landing.
The result: Edgar players always have his Super available. Every 15–20 seconds, a Super is ready. Every fight is a potential dive.
Best Modes for Edgar
| Mode | Verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Knockout | ✅ Excellent | Auto-charged super means one free dive per round |
| Brawl Ball | ✅ Strong | Leap clears defenders; self-heal sustains under fire |
| Showdown | ✅ Strong | Self-heal scales with power cubes; snowball fights |
| Gem Grab | ⚠️ Situational | Weak against coordinated long-range teams |
| Bounty | ❌ Weak | Killed too easily before closing range |
| Heist | ❌ Weak | Low ranged damage; can't attack safe at range |
Best Build
Gadget: Hardcore — Edgar instantly heals for a flat HP amount. Use it the moment you drop below 30% HP in a fight you're committing to. It buys the 1–2 seconds needed to heal back through punching.
Star Power: Fisticuffs — increases the self-heal percentage of each punch significantly. This is the gamebreaking star power: with Fisticuffs, Edgar sustains in fights that would otherwise kill him.
Leap Timing
Edgar's Super is a 3-tile leap that deals modest damage on landing. It does NOT need to be used to initiate — the best Edgar players use it mid-fight to reposition, not to open:
- Gap closer: Leap over a wall to reach a retreating enemy.
- Mid-fight escape: Leap backward to a safer position when at 40% HP, then resume punching.
- Dive on the carry: Wait for 3v3 to start, let your team engage, then leap onto their back-line support.
Counters
Hard counters: Shelly (super slow stops Edgar cold), Frank (stun prevents punching), Rose, Byron (heals faster than Edgar's punches damage them).
What Edgar beats: Isolated low-HP brawlers, supports positioned too far forward, enemies who have already used their Super.
